Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! Across the district, our faculty and staff are excited about the potential for learning in a new year and look forward to working with you as we design and implement instructional programs to meet the needs of each student. Together, as an educational family, we can encourage our children to reach the highest levels of success! Our schools offer opportunities designed to encourage the social, emotional, physical, and academic development of each student. Our goal is to provide a productive teaching and learning environment that engages students in relevant and rigorous content to prepare them to be college and career-ready.
The Sevier County School System is the eleventh largest school district in Tennessee with 31 schools and nearly 15,000 students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. General education schools in the system are accredited by Cognia, formally known as AdvancED or the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Our schools offer comprehensive instructional programs with opportunities for every student to achieve and excel. Early post-secondary opportunities abound at the secondary level and include Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment, State Dual Credit courses, Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and industrial certifications, services for exceptional children, and many other instruction and intervention options.
As we begin a new school year, I invite you to read this handbook in order to become better acquainted with the policies and procedures that guide our schools’ programs and processes. If you do not find the information that you need in this handbook, please contact administrative or teaching staff members in our schools with additional questions. We want to collaborate with you to make 2022-2023 the best school year ever for your child and your family!
