Individuals interested in applying for a substitute teaching position with the Sevier County School System must obtain an application from an administrator at one of our schools.
Notice: You must be over 21 years of age to substitute at any high school or vocational school.
Substitute Teacher Hiring Process for 2024-2025
- Prospective substitute teacher picks up an application from the school principal.
- Prospective substitute teacher returns completed application to the school principal along with a copy of their driver’s license and social security card.
- School principal returns completed application and Substitute Teacher Recommendation Cover Letter (attached) and copy of driver’s license and social security card to David Loy via email.
- David reviews the application, conducts an interview, and completes reference checks.
- Upon an offer of employment, he submits an employment authorization.
- Krissy Sims contacts the substitute teacher with instructions on completing the TBI background check and the orientation process.
Other Items:
- Substitutes must work 20 days each school year to stay active for the following year.
- The substitute teacher incentive program remains in effect this year.
