How do I notify the payroll department that I have added a degree/endorsement to my teaching license? You must first notify the Department of Education and apply to have additional degree/endorsement to your teaching license. Upon receipt of your new teaching licence, submit the superintendents copy to the Human Resources department. Degrees must be completed by August 31 and the new license submitted to Human Resources by November 1 to receive credit for payroll for the entire school year. 7. When will I receive a salary increase based on adding a degree to my teaching license? To receive credit for payroll for the entire school year, degrees must be completed by August 31 and a new teaching license submitted to Human Resources by November 1. *It is the employees responsibility to notify and present credentials to the Sevier County Board of Education for payroll credit. Salary schedules are based on credentials presented to the Board of Education for the current year. 8. Do I need to notify the Human Resources department that I plan to complete an advanced degree? Yes. Written notice of intent to complete additional academic training should be forwarded to the Director of Finance and the School Board Chairperson. 9. Can I take bereavement leave? Up to three days of bereavement will be granted on the occasion of the death of an employee’s spouse, child, grandparent, grandchild, parent, sister, brother, parent-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, or son-in-law. Two additional days of bereavement leave may be granted upon the death of an immediate family member (defined as spouse, child, or parent) should the employee so request and be approved by the Director or designee. 10. Failure to request a foreseeable leave may result in the delay of such leave until at least 30 days after you provide actual notice.
