NEGLECTED LIAISON/TEACHER– District-wide (Smoky Mountain Children’s Home Campus)

• Position Description: As part of federal funding dedicated to supporting students placed in neglected or delinquent facilities by the courts due to abandonment, abuse, or parental neglect, the Sevier County School System operates targeted programs that provide supplemental educational services for these students.  These supports are primarily focused on meeting students’ academic needs and ensuring a smooth transition to and from neglected and delinquent facilities.  To promote continuity of care and support, the district employs a neglected student liaison who delivers direct services – including prevention, intervention, and follow-up – to both students and their families.
• Tennessee Certification Required: 
  • Holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. 
  • Possesses a valid Tennessee professional teaching license; endorsement in grades 7-12 preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of teaching experience, with a strong emphasis on working with at-risk youth in grades 6-12.
  • Demonstrated experience with secondary student graduation requirements, including credit tracking and transcript review.
